To illustrate that the LEADS framework is not just for formal leaders, and is universal in its recommendations for good leadership, we asked experts from the Canadian Indigenous health world to help us understand how it can help bring leadership to life in health in Indigenous communities. Similarly, we asked patients to explore LEADS in the context of people centred care. Other invited authors explored LEADS in the professions; and described how leadership talent management is organized on the national level in countries similar to Canada; and to provincial health regions in Canada and Australia. Each author is profiled, and a short synopsis of their chapter is provided.

Highly qualified and experienced health leaders tell stories or provide vignettes throughout our book, Bringing Leadership to Life in Health. The stories or vignettes show how they have ‘put LEADS to work’ in their organizational environment. Included are stories and vignettes from patients, senior executives, physicians, and front and mid-level managers in the health systems of Canada, Australia, and the UK. Each storyteller is introduced, and a short overview of their contribution is profiled. Contact information is also provided.
